La Directora's meme

So, I took the word "fandom" loosely and combined fictional, non-fictional groups and individuals for this meme.

Choose twelve characters at random from your fandoms, then answer the questions under the cut. Do not look at the questions before you pick the characters. (Like bassfingers, I've decided to interpret the word "fandom" loosely.)

1. Wonder Woman
2. Nero Wolfe (Rex Stout's armchair dectective. A gourmet gourmand.)
3. The Tomorrow People (Old BBC series about Homo sapiens sapiens - kids with psychic powers)
4. Deanna Troi (Star Trek: the Next Generation)
5. Fred Astaire (and Ginger Rogers)
6. Duran Duran (the, er, "Fab Five," not the Barbarella villain)
7. Neil Gaiman (_Sandman_! _Good Omens_..)
8. Kim Harrison (writes books with Clint Eastwood titles about witches and vampires and pixies - oh my! in Cincinatti)
9. Georgette Heyer (nearly invented the Regency romance genre)
10. Trout Fishing in America (hey, any band that sings a tango about toddler battle cries..)
11. House dude
12. Phryne Fisher (you've seen my posts on her before)

(What la_directora said: Yeah, okay, some of those aren't typical "fandom" choices, but having no idea what the questions are means this is still fun.)

1. Who would make a better college professor, 6 or 11? What subjects would they teach?

Clearly, 11. Misanthrope? Charm? Raffish-ness? Maybe something about medicine? You be the judge.

2. Do you think 4 is hot? How hot?

Not so much. Lovely, perhaps.

3. 12 sends 8 on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed?

Phryne sends Kim to fetch interesting books from the library and to find er, interesting, companions. After collecting a stack of mysteries, Kim dumps them into the lap of a leather-clad, boisterous chap. He picks up the books and her hint, and then he follows her to Phryne’s home. See Edward Gorey prints for more information..

4. What is or would be 9's favorite book?

Sense and Sensibility.

5. Would it make more sense for 2 to swear fealty to 6, or the other way around?

Clearly, the other way ‘round. Wolfe has no need of pretty boys; he has Archie, after all.

6. For some reason, 5 is looking for a roommate. Should s/he share a studio apartment with 9 or with 10?

Hee. Can you imagine Fred Astaire, Ezra, and Keith? Hijinks ensue.

7. 2, 7 and 12 have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss?

Wolfe allows Gaiman and Miss Fisher to visit. Fritz prepares truffle risotto and fresh asparagus. They discuss the effect of Greek mythology on the modern fairy tale, murder mystery genre, and local politics.

8. 3 challenges 10 to a duel. What happens?

Trout is now playing songs on a lovely space station, wishing Dr. Who would stop by, so they could see a different set..

9. If 1 stole 8's most precious possession, how would 8 get it back?

Kim would probably enlist the help of her heroine, who might use witch magic.

10. Suggest a title for a story in which 7 and 12 both attain what they most desire.

The Muse and the Madman

11. What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 and 1 to work together?

Deanna’s American relatives? Well, it seems that her father’s a descendent of a tribe of women currently living in the Bermuda triangle...Diana decides to look up her long-lost cousin.

12. If 7 visited you for the weekend, how would you get along?

Well, enough, I think. His mind is fertile, and he is well-versed in language-play.

13. If you could command 3 to perform any one task or service for you, what would it be?

Help me to “break out”...

14. Does anyone on your friends list write or draw 11?

15. If 2 had to choose sides between 4 and 5, which would it be?

He’d dislike them both. As he has a deep distrust of females, Wolfe would grudging give Astaire house room.

16. What might 10 shout while charging into battle?

"All I want is a Proper Cup of Coffee!"

17. If you chose a song to represent 8, which song would you choose?

"The Witch of the Westmerelands”

18. 1, 6, and 12 are having dim sum at a Chinese restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets to eat it?

Wonder Woman; Duran Duran is struck dumb, and Phryne is not that hungry.

19. What might be a good pick-up line for 2 to use on 10?

No dice. He’s too busy looking at orchids.

20. What would 5 most likely be arrested for?

Dancing in the street.

21. What is 6's secret?

They’re grateful to Russell Mulcahy for kick-starting their American career by gaining them the twin audiences of club-goers and subscribers to Non-Threatening Boys Weekly.

22. If 11 and 9 were racing to a destination, who would get there first?

Tie – Georgette is too ladylike to gallop, and House is constrained by his limp.

23. 3 and 7 tell conflicting versions of events. Which is more reliable?

How would you know? Neil’s would be truth in the way tales of Coyote are Truth.

24. (1) and (9) reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by (4)'s sinister secret organization. (11) volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that (11) is actually a spy for (4). Meanwhile, (4) has kidnapped (12) in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of (5) they seek out (3), who gives them what they need to complete their quest.

What title would you give this fic?

What’s in a Name?

25. If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7 or 8?

Kim’s large friend in leather might make her the safer choice.
